Open the game settings, then select "Special Effects."

By dragging the triangular progress bar, you can switch between a real battlefield mode or a clean battlefield mode.

To close the real battlefield, drag the triangle to the right.

To close the clean battlefield, drag the triangle to the left. Drag it as far left as needed, and the real battlefield will be closed.
Once you're in a new version of the game, you can configure the battlefield modes in the settings: select between "Clean Battlefield" and "Real Battlefield" under the "Special Effects" section.
